Two elephants walking together. They appear to be showing affection towards each other.

Billy has spent 36 years in captivity at the Los Angeles Zoo since being taken from Malaysia as a 4-year-old. He now lives alongside Tina, a 59-year-old elephant. Both have endured a lifetime of confinement—despite growing evidence that captivity causes elephants serious physical and psychological harm.

Instead of retiring them to a sanctuary, the LA Zoo allegedly plans to ship Billy and Tina to another zoo in Tulsa, Oklahoma. These elephants deserve sanctuary, not another cage.

Elephants in zoos are denied the 2.7 million acres they need to roam in the wild. They suffer from shortened lifespans, arthritis, and disease. They mourn, form deep bonds, and show empathy—just like us.

Cher herself has spoken out: “Billy and Tina have served their time… they deserve peace.” Sign the petition now. Add your voice now. Demand sanctuary now.
