A heart-wrenching video showing an abandoned puppy tied to a park bench during a thunderstorm has gone viral. The clip, posted by Stray Rescue of St. Louis, reveals the dramatic rescue of the puppy, later named Wilbur.
Found soaked in the pouring rain, Wilbur was discovered hiding under the bench. In the video, a rescuer calls out to the frightened pup, attempting to coax him into safety. As the rescuer gets closer, Wilbur initially cowers and barks, clearly distressed by his situation.
Stray Rescue of St. Louis shared the touching moment when Wilbur finally allowed himself to be saved. The caption accompanying the video reads: “This little puppy was tied up and left at a park, and he’s COVERED in ringworm. He was so brave when we first approached, but then as soon as we got in the Jeep he curled up on Donna’s lap and let out a deep sigh—that sigh said so much. ‘We got you, adorable little baby. We’ll get your sweet self ALL fixed up in no time. He’ll get medicated baths and will be ready for foster in just a few short days.'”
The video, posted on July 5, has quickly gone viral, amassing 7,100 likes and 122,000 views. The footage shows Wilbur’s journey from being abandoned and scared to finding safety and comfort. The shelter’s plea for help reads: “He’ll never have to be lonely or muster up that much bravery ever again. Let us know if you can help take in a sweet soul like Wilbur.”
