SimplyV started as a leading European plant-based cheese brand and has now been reimaged for the United States by Franklin Foods, a pioneer in plant-based products. The new vegan cream cheese is made from almonds and gives the texture and taste of dairy cream cheese without the use of animal products. SimplyV has been a leader in the European market with its plant-based cream cheese products for the last five years.
“SimplyV is an excellent option for any restaurant or foodservice operation that is wanting to add more plant-based options to their menus or for grocers wanting to add more plant-based products to their shelves,” said President and CEO of Franklin Foods Emma Aer. “SimplyV has an incredibly delicious taste profile and in blind taste tests, it outperformed two major plant-based competitors on the most important attributes—flavor and creaminess. You can easily spread this plant-based cream cheese on a bagel and it can also stand on its own when used in baking or as a recipe ingredient.”
The cream cheese has no dairy, soy, palm oil, lactose, or gluten. The versatile product can be spread, baked, whipped, and even used for thickening. The product will be available for food service customers in 1-oz. cups, a 5-lb tub, and a 30-lb box in the Original flavor. For customers, the company plans to launch the first plant-based 8 oz bar in the original flavor and 8-oz cup varieties in Original, Strawberry, Onion and Chive.
“We believe our new cream cheese is the creamiest of all plant-based cream cheese alternatives,” said Aer. “Not only does it taste great, but it’s good for us and our planet. We’re confident that the U.S. market will ‘spread’ the love for SimplyV the same way the European market has embraced our products.”
The plant-based food market is booming, and research suggests it could make up 7.7 percent of the global protein market by 2030. With a value of $29.4 billion in 2020, experts suggest that the plant-based foods market could have a value of over $162 billion by the end of the decade.
