The Michigan Humane Society Animal Rescue Team was dispatched when they got a call about an injured puppy. Upon arriving at the scene, they found the tiny boy who was no more than six weeks old, alone and whimpering. The vets were unsure what had happened to the baby at first, but after a thorough check-up, they discovered a BB lodged in the puppy’s spine. The BB had caused him to lose the use of his right hind leg and the puppy’s vision was also impacted.

This little pup’s journey to recovery was certainly not easy. It was decided that vets would have to amputate the puppy’s leg. Due to complications during surgery, the puppy’s heart stopped. But it was clear this little guy was a fighter, and after he was given CPR he pulled through.

Things are now looking up for this special guy! His rescuers named him Forrest, he is now recovering and gaining more use of his weak back leg. What’s even more exciting is that Forrest has now found a forever home with veterinarian Shawn Dunn!

Since Forrest has proven he has quite the fighting spirit, Dunn plans to give him a gladiator name to signify his strength. It sounds like this little dog is going to have a great life with his new mom, and we couldn’t be happier for them!
