Joy the Dog’s Amazing Rescue and Recovery After Losing Front Paws in Train Collision

Joy the dog could tell quite the story if he could talk. After losing his front legs by being hit by a train, Joy has made a full recovery thanks to the help of Animal Aid Unlimited, an incredible animal rescue organization based in India.

Animal Aid Unlimited is responsible for the successful rescue and recovery of many street animals found in distress (just see the amazing work they did to save Grace the dog), and Joy is no exception.

Moments after receiving the call that a dog had gotten stuck underneath a train, Animal Aid was on the scene to come to the rescue of the dog they would later name, Joy. It has been a long and difficult journey for Joy, but the care and love he has been given while in the skilled hands of Animal Aid workers were unparalleled. Watch the astonishing transformation of this downtrodden doggy into a happy, ecstatic pup.

One of Joy’s legs was badly injured and he needed to undergo surgery to have his right leg removed. The first major step in his journey to recovery was a little wobbly, but it is clear that Joy is a fighter and would not easily be discouraged.

After Joy had adjusted a bit to walking primarily on his back legs, a prosthetic front leg was fitted to protect his front leg.

Faced with another challenge, Joy learned to walk and balance using his prosthetic leg in no time at all.

Just look at him go! Walking on three legs is now a breeze for this determined little pup.

With a lot of love and encouragement, Joy is getting stronger every day thanks to the amazing and committed people at Animal Aid Unlimited. Joy is now a permanent resident in their sanctuary and he will continue to receive the best care around and enjoy the rest of his life as a happy, vibrant dog.
