For many grocery shoppers and budget-hunters, Trader Joe’s sets the standard for affordable, high-quality grocery stores. And while we may never know how they manage to offer their consistent and spanning spread of palatable products for such affordable prices, what we do know is that the popular chain can always be counted on for loads of vegan-friendly fare.
Most plant-based enthusiasts have sampled their fair share of Trader Joe’s popular “accidentally vegan” items, such as their spicy and sweet Cookie Butter (if you haven’t yet tasted the wonder that is Cookie Butter yet, run, don’t want to your nearest TJ’s). However, TJ’s is known for their prolific output of new and exciting items, and luckily, in 2017 they’ve not only released a myriad of new vegan products, but they’ve even modified some of their formerly non-vegan products to be suitable for a plant-based diet! Plant-based food is the future, ya’ll, and TJ’s is catering to it!
Check out 15 of TJ’s newer vegan products below for some new culinary inspo, or keep up to date with their vegan products here.

2. Ancient Grains and Nuts Granola
TJ’s actually modified its granola recipe to suit a vegan and Kosher diet; this mix used to contain honey, but now uses brown rice syrup and Turbinado sugar as a binder. For $3.49, you’ll get a bag that’s filled with totally plant-based protein, such as buckwheat, quinoa, chia seeds, teff, and amaranth, not to mention cashews (so people with nut allergies, steer clear!), walnuts, pumpkin, and sunflower seeds. 4. Organic Coconut Aminos Seasoning Sauce
If you love the taste of soy sauce but are trying to limit your soy intake, give Coconut Aminos a shot: for $2.99 you get an eight and a half-fluid ounce bottle of soy-free sauce that’s slightly less salty, a tad more sweet, and oh-so-delicious. If you need some inspiration on how to use it, try it on our No-Noodle Pad Thai.
Jackfruit is a versatile fruit that can mimic many other shredded types of meat after some preparation (in fact, why not browse through these 10 Jammin’ Jackfruit Recipes You Have to Try); if you’re anything like us, however, you’ll also enjoy eating some straight from the can. TJ’s is offering up 20-ounce cans for $1.99.
That’s right, TJ’s now offers the holy grail of plant-based ingredients: nutritional yeast! The savory, ultra-versatile product is vegan, kosher, gluten-free, and adds an incredible umami, cheesy flavor to a variety of different dishes. For $2.99, you can pick up a four-ounce bag and get cooking. Learn more about nutritional yeast and how to use it on our Food Monster App.
Most people know Oreos are “accidentally” vegan; but did you know Trader Joes’ answer to Oreos, the “Joe Joes”, are vegan too? For $2.99 you can get a 10.5-ounce box of these limited-edition Matcha sandwich cookies. Cookies not your thing, but interested in Matcha nevertheless? We got your back with these gluten-free Matcha Rice Krispie Treats.

9. Organic Cacao and Maca Powders
This Trader Joe’s Organic Fair Trade Cacao Powder is, as its name implies, both organic and Fair Trade-certified. We honestly don’t think we’ve seen a better price. For $3.99, you can buy an eight-ounce pouch.
10. Mango and Sticky Rice Spring Rolls
Fans of Thai cuisine will know that both mango and sticky rice are prominent ingredients used in Thai cookery. You can either bake or fry these rolls and eat them on-the-go as a snack, or enjoy them as a dessert. You can buy a box of five rolls in the frozen aisle of Trader Joe’s for $2.99, or make your own gluten-free Mango Sticky Rice at home.
11. Peanut Butter Protein Granola
Peanut butter and peanuts both contain protein, but Trader Joe’s also decided to add pea protein to these clusters, which is very cool! You can buy each 12-ounce bag for $3.49, every day.
12. Seed and Bean Medley
This Seed and Bean medley is crunchy and salty, with pepitas, large corn kernels, chickpeas, fava beans, and edamame. Freeze dried peas complete this snack mélange you’ll soon be eating by the handful. You can pick up a six-ounce bag of Trader Joe’s Seed & Bean Medley for $3.49
13. Kohlrabi Salad Blend
This simple salad blend features green kohlrabi, which actually translates from German into English as “cabbage”, as well as shredded red cabbage, kale, and golden beets. You can buy a 10 ounce bag of Trader Joe’s Kohlrabi Salad Blend for $2.49, in their refrigerated produce section with the other bagged salads.
14. Just Coconut Chunks
Coconut is the sole ingredient in each bag of these new Trader Joe’s coconut chunks — no sweeteners, no preservatives, no whiteners. Just Coconut. The pieces in this product were all individually quick frozen after being cut, so you can shake out what you need and save the rest for another time. Buy a 16-ounce bag of Just Coconut Chunks for $2.49.
15. Crunchy Nutty Rice Bites
Instead of marshmallows, Trader Joe’s added quinoa, dried cranberries, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and cashews to make these Crunchy Nutty Rice Bites. These bites get their hint of sweetness from cane sugar and a touch of sea salt, which works so well with the crunchiness and nuttiness of these kosher, gluten-free snacks. You can buy a five-ounce bag of Trader Joe’s Crunchy Nutty Rice Bites for $2.99.
