We love Mediterranean food because there are so many delicious plant-based options. Legumes, nuts and olives, oh my! We also love it because several dishes can be very healthy and nourishing, sine the cuisine includes many healthy fats, whole grains, and plenty of produce. From falafel and hummus to gyros and Greek pies, we’ve got several Mediterranean recipes here at One Green Planet.
1. Baked Falafel and Cucumber Noodle Salad With Mint-Tahini Dressing
This salad is a good choice to make and serve for an end-of-summer dinner party. The cool mini-tahini dressing works well over the crunchy cucumbers and baked falafel.

2. Vegan Spanakopita
Pies are a tradition in Greece, and this vegan version does justice to the classic dish. The pie filling is made with a delicious blend of spinach, onion, leek, lemon, olive oil, dill, rice and salt.

3. Vegan Tabbouleh With Barley
Traditional tabbouleh recipes call for bulgar, but this version calls for peal barley instead. You will also need, parsley, mint, tomatoes, garlic clove, juice, small onions, salt and olive oil.

4. Pineapple Vegan Kebabs
Making and eating these pineapple kebabs will transport you to an Island tropical paradise. For the marinarde, use fresh orange juice, agave nectar, tamari, brown rice vinegar, shallots, ginger and garlic.

5. Vegan Tempeh Gyros With Tofu Tzatziki
Gyros are a popular street food, but they’re often made with plenty of meat and dairy. Try making your own that uses tempeh and tofu tzatziki instead. This recipe also includes instructions to make lemon-dill roasted potatoes. Yum!

6. Tiropitakia (Greek “Cheese” Hand Pies)
To recreate this favorite Greek dish, try this recipe and make a vegan yellow cream cheese filling with nutritional yeast and chickpea flour. You’ll also need phyllo dough.

7. Mediterranean Focaccia Bread
What’s particularily awesome about Focaccia bread is that you can use it to fasten together a sandwich, tear it into strips for dipping, or just eat it plain and savor the flavor of the olive oil, sun-dried tomato and olives.

8. Greek Nachos
These nachos are a no-frills meal that the whole family can just dig into as an informal dinner. Don’t forget the pita chips, vegan cucumber tzatziki, tomatoes and olives for a true Greek-inspired recipe.

9. Baked Falafal Salad
The hot, crispy falafel will create a nice balance to the raw veggies in your salad bowl. To top it off, you can choose from two different dressings: lemon tahini or avocado cucumber.

10. Red Pepper Hummus
Hummus is typically vegan anyway, but we had to include it on this list. Bust out the raw veggie slices and chickpea bread to dip in the hummus. This makes a great appetizer or snack, especially when entertaining guests.
