Celebrity cook and food writer, Nigella Lawson, shares a new recipe with her followers every day, but this month, she tried to get in on Veganuary – and failed.
On January 13, Lawson released her recipe of the day on Twitter. She wrote, “#RecipeOfTheDay is one that suits both #cookjan and #Veganuary and, frankly, suits me all the time, regardless of hashtaggery; Noodles with Mushrooms and Mangetouts (snow peas to some).”

She linked to the full recipe and that’s when fans began to call her out. The dish wasn’t vegan but vegetarian. The main ingredient? Egg noodles.
“great recipe – perhaps not vegan with egg noodles though?” one person commented and Lawson was quick to reply and correct her mistake!
You’re so right! Thank you

After realizing her mistake, Lawson added to her post, saying: “I’m a nincompoop: this is vegetarian not vegan. But to make it vegan-friendly, simply use egg-free noodles.”

With the replacement of egg noodles, it does sound like a delicious vegan meal! Not all celebrities and public figures would be so quick to admit their mistakes and correct themselves, and it’s refreshing to see Lawson doing just that.
