Burger King will soon be adding two new vegan burgers to their menus in Europe.
This announcement comes after the successful launch of the vegan Rebel Whopper and Rebel Chicken King sandwiches in Swedish locations. The chain even gave customers the option to order from a “50/50” menu where they would be given the plant-based or real meat at random because they were so confident that customers wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the two.
Burger King locations in the US launched the Impossible Whopper earlier this year in August, another clear sign that plant-based meat options are on the rise due to consumer demand. These large companies are also responding to public concerns about the environment by making efforts to reduce their plastic waste.
Many will make the argument that individual decisions cannot help save animals or the planet, and that the onus is on large corporations to reduce waste. However, it is clear that companies make progressive decisions, like offering vegan options or reducing waste, due to consumers demanding better from them.
One person alone cannot save the planet, but our collective decisions make all the difference. Let’s collectively make an effort to reduce your waste, recycle, and choose more vegan options in Support of our planet!
