Many fast food companies have been adding plant-based and meatless options to the menu. Red Robin offers the Impossible burger at all locations, Carl’s Jr. has Beyond Meat on the menu, and Del Taco uses vegan crumbles as well. Less than a month ago, Burger King tentatively joined the list of fast-food places offering meatless options. They announced they’d be testing a whopper with a vegan patty from Impossible Foods. Well after less than a month of testing, Burger King has already announced expansion.

A spokesperson for the chain says, “the sales of the Impossible Whopper are complementary to the regular Whopper.” Burger King has 7,300 locations across the United States and they plan to roll out the Impossible Whopper to all locations across the country starting August 8th!

President of Burger King North America, Chris Finazzo says they want to, “give somebody who wants to eat a burger every day, but doesn’t necessarily want to eat beef everyday, permission to come into the restaurants more frequently.” Having meatless options isn’t just good for vegetarians and plant-based eaters, it can help people choose more meatless meals and realize they can eat meatless without sacrificing taste.
