Barilla Reformulated it’s Protein+ Pasta Line and Made it Plant-Based!

Barilla Pasta

Barilla’s Protein+ Line of pasta is now vegan-friendly. The line was reformulated without animal products, instead, it includes lentils, chickpeas, and peas.

The line removed egg white from the pasta. Protein + comes in Spaghetti, Angel Hair, Thin Spaghetti, Farfalle, Penne, Elbows, and Rotini, according to the press release.

Jean-Pierre Comte, President of Barilla Americas said of the change, “We are always monitoring trends and looking to offer products that fit our consumers’ needs, and in this case, we focused on those that lead a completely plant-based lifestyle, but want more protein. The Protein+ reformulation is a perfect example of our commitment to innovation and our dedication to providing pasta products that are made from simple, healthy ingredients.”

Protein + provides 10 grams of protein per 2oz serving. Barilla is available at grocery stores around the United States.

Companies like Nestle and Chicago Town also introduced vegan Italian options in supermarkets this year.
