Raspberry Oat Bars

Along with summer’s seemingly endless bounty comes the beginning of raspberry and blackberry season.  You might be seeing them popping up at farmer’s markets or in punnets at supermarkets.  If you are lucky enough to have a garden, those little red and purple gems will be showing themselves around now, and you’ll see wild hedgerows loaded and waiting to be picked.

Blackberries and raspberries, not surprisingly, are incredibly nutritious and are a welcomed seasonal addition to your diet.  Raspberries are an excellent source of fiber, vitamin C, K E, and B vitamins as well as manganese, iron, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, and copper.

Blackberries pack a similar punch also being high in fiber, vitamin C, K, and manganese.  They also have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties as well as being high in antioxidants.

You can’t go wrong just tossing a handful of berries on top of a bowl of ice cream or yogurt, but check out some of these fun OGP recipes that bring the berries in a truly beautiful way.
