On Sunday, Pope Francis praised young people for their tireless efforts to save the planet and the environment.
The Pope, who has been very active in environmental affairs this year, sought to encourage young people to keep up the good work, saying, “You have been entrusted with an exciting but also challenging task…to stand tall while everything around us seems to be collapsing.”
Pope Francis was one of the voices that joined this year’s climate summit, the environment being a big part of his papacy.
He said, “In a world that thinks only of present gain, that tends to stifle grand ideals, you have not lost the ability to dream. Be free and authentic, be the critical conscience of society.”
The pope is expected to meet with young people from all across the world at the Catholic church’s jamboree in Lisbon, Portugal, in August 2023. While there, he will seek to encourage and Support their new ideas about tackling the climate crisis.
The environment has been one of the driving forces behind the pope’s papacy, as he has remained very active in climate discussions. He has become one of the most influential voices to help in the battle against Climate change.

Not one word–NOT A WORD–from this Pope condemning humanity’s atrocities committed against our fellow Earthlings and evolutionary kin. What good is his “LAUDATO SI” message if he excludes the 99.9999% of our extended family? Does he recognize that WE ARE NOT THE “SUPERIOR” SPECIES, and other species are our equals–not our slaves, property, resources! Gandhi noted this inconsistency when he compared the compassion of Buddha to that of Jesus. Buddha’s compassion extended beyond the human species. One fails to find such compassion for other-than human creatures in the life of Jesus. As per this example: A Canadian animal rights activist could face up to 10 years in prison for giving water to pigs heading to the slaughter on a scorching summer day. Toronto resident Anita Krajnc, 48, was charged with criminal mischief after clashing with the driver of a tractor-trailer carrying pigs to an Ontario pork processing plant in June. Krajnc and a fellow protester tried to give the pigs water as the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light on the way to the Fearmans Pork processing facility, about 45 miles south-west of Toronto. A video of the incident shows the driver, identified in court documents as Jeffery Veldjesgraaf, climbing from the vehicle to confront Krajnc. “Jesus said, ‘If they are thirsty, give them water,’” she tells him. Veldjesgraaf responds: “You know what? These are not humans, you dumb frickin’ broad.” SHAME ON THE CHURCH!
