Vegan activist Chris Delforce has gone to extraordinary lengths to expose the truth behind pig slaughter in Australian abattoirs. Delforce spent nine hours hidden inside a gas chamber, filming as pigs were stunned with carbon dioxide before being killed and bled out. The footage, which was shown on ABC’s 7.30 program, has shocked viewers with its distressing scenes of animals writhing and screaming in fear and pain.

The pork industry has responded to the footage by highlighting the animal welfare regulations that guide farming in Australia. However, Delforce argues that no matter how well pigs are raised or cared for, they all end up in the slaughterhouse and none of them want to die. He hopes that by sharing his footage and story, he can convince people not to Support this cruel industry.
If you’re a bacon lover, it’s important to be aware that this is the system used on 85% of the five million pigs killed in Australia each year. Delforce’s footage highlights the need for consumers to make informed choices about the food they buy. By supporting ethical and sustainable farming practices, you can help to improve animal welfare and promote a more environmentally friendly food system.
Delforce is the founder of Farm Transparency Project, an activist group that has published footage and controversially the locations of farms and abattoirs. He believes that the animal welfare system in Australia is broken and has called for an independent regulator to oversee the treatment of animals in the food industry.
It’s not just animal welfare that’s at stake. The meat industry is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and Climate change. By reducing our meat consumption and choosing plant-based options, we can help to reduce our carbon footprint and promote a more sustainable future for the planet.
As consumers, we have the power to make a difference. By supporting ethical and sustainable farming practices, reducing our meat consumption, and choosing plant-based options, we can help to create a better world for animals, people, and the environment. Let’s use our purchasing power to promote positive change and create a more sustainable food system.
