Join the Fight to Save Millions of Dogs Killed Every Year to Fuel the Dog Meat Trade!

Humane Society International (HSI) is requesting help from each and every one of us to help put an end to Asia’s cruel dog meat trade. This incredible organization has been working in China, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam stopping dog meat trucks, working with authorities to enforce change, and educating communities about the truth of the trade. Although Taiwan recently banned the consumption of dogs and cats, the fight to save the world’s dogs is far from over.

According to a petition on Care2 written by HSI, millions of dogs are killed each year in Asia’s dog meat trade, and many are stolen pets who are tortured before they succumb to the cruelty of slaughter.

Not only is the dog meat trade undeniably cruel, but it poses a serious threat to public health by spreading rabies and other contagious diseases. If you are unfamiliar with rabies, it is a terrifying virus worse than any horror movie or nightmare, causing an unbelievably painful and torturous dragged out death. After the virus infects a victim’s brain, they literally go stark raving mad and are compelled to bite others, spreading the disease. Studies have shown that about 60,000 people are infected with rabies annually, with 95 percent of cases coming from Asia and Africa, and 99 percent of infections spread by unvaccinated dogs.
