Puppy Returned to Shelter 3 Days After Being Adopted

After 72 hours in his new home, a recently homed puppy named Scrabble was returned to the Massachusetts rescue he had been adopted from. The family that surrendered the puppy said that he was “too much”. This left Scrabble waiting again to find his truly forever home.

Almost Euthanized. Boarded in Rescue. Transported North. Shelter Guest. Rescued dogs experience a lot of change in a short period of time. The first few days in a home are tough. They need time to decompress and settle into a new environment. On top of that, puppies are a time commitment. They are active, they need training, they need patience. Scrabble didn’t even get a chance. He’s one of the most affectionate dogs we’ve encountered in a while. He’s curious and intelligent and is bound to be a very loyal companion. Only seven months old, Scrabble has had a tough life. He and his brother found themselves at a high-kill shelter in Tennessee. Fortunately, Scrabble’s brother found a home quickly. However, he was not so lucky. That’s when Schultz’s Guest House dog rescue stepped in. They brought Scrabble to their facility and began to hunt for a home for him. Although the pup did find a family, he was soon returned. 

The rescue’s staff describe Scrabble as an amazing dog. He loves to be held and does well in the car. However, he is an active puppy and would do well with a family that can give him lots of stimulation.

Fortunately, Scrabble’s story does have a happy ending! A follow-up TikTok from the rescue reveals that he did indeed find his forever family.
