In North Miami, 22-year-old Juan Pablo Gaviria Arce faces charges after being caught on camera abusing his own dogs. The disturbing incident, which unfolded in two separate videos captured by a witness, has sparked outrage and calls for justice. According to police reports, the first video, recorded on May 1st, captures Gaviria repeatedly punching his dog in a brutal and unprovoked attack. The sounds of the dog’s distress were reportedly audible from a significant distance, painting a grim picture of the suffering endured by the innocent animal.
In a second video, dated Tuesday, Gaviria is seen using a broomstick handle to inflict further harm on his dogs, shoving it through a wire crate and into the animals. The disturbing footage, which circulated widely on social media platforms like Only in Dade, quickly gained traction, drawing attention to the severity of the abuse.
Law enforcement swiftly responded to the outcry, arresting Gaviria and bringing him in for questioning. Initially attempting to deflect responsibility by claiming he was punching a stuffed animal, Gaviria eventually confessed to his actions, attributing them to a loss of control fueled by anger. Gaviria admitted that he used the broomstick to intervene in a dog fight. While initially justifying his behavior as a means to stop the altercation, he later acknowledged the excessive and unnecessary force he employed.
As a consequence of his reprehensible conduct, Gaviria now faces two counts of animal cruelty with intent to injure or kill. Currently held in county jail on a $5,000 bond, he awaits further legal proceedings as the community grapples with the unsettling reality of such cruelty occurring in their midst.
