On July 14, authorities responded to a distressing report of animal cruelty at the Petland store. Upon arrival, they were met by an assistant manager who revealed the chilling details of what had transpired. Inside the store, the lifeless bodies of a parakeet and a rabbit were discovered. Both animals appeared to have suffered violent and inhumane deaths, raising immediate suspicions about the intentions of the culprits.

With mounting suspicion, the store manager swiftly reviewed the surveillance footage, uncovering the grim truth. The video footage depicted a man and a woman entering the store around 3:30 p.m., seemingly like ordinary customers. They interacted with a puppy, pretending to be interested in adopting it, but their true intentions lay elsewhere.

The footage revealed the man deliberately reaching into the rabbit enclosure, holding down an innocent creature, before seemingly letting it go. Similarly, he was seen reaching into the parakeet enclosure, callously breaking the bird’s neck before nonchalantly moving on to other animals. Throughout this horrific act, the woman appeared to act as a lookout for the man, as if aiding and abetting the cruel deed.

Following the initial discovery of the parakeet and rabbit, the assistant manager’s worst fears were confirmed as she continued her search. She stumbled upon the lifeless body of a hamster, clearly a victim of brutal stomping. Moreover, a guinea pig was reported missing, leaving staff members devastated and determined to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The Oklahoma City Animal Welfare Department has taken charge of the investigation into this despicable act. In collaboration with the Oklahoma City Police Department, they are working tirelessly to identify and apprehend the heartless individuals responsible for the deaths of these innocent animals.

To aid in their efforts, authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the suspects or the incident to come forward immediately. The police have set up a dedicated hotline, Crime Stoppers, at 405-235-7300 and provided an online reporting platform at www.okccrimetips.com. They assure the public that tips can be given anonymously and may even qualify for a cash reward, incentivizing the community to help bring the culprits to justice.
