It’s horrible to hear about animal abuse cases or read the ways humans are endangering many species. Fortunately, there are things we can do to speak for them. One of the ways we can help and lend our voices to good causes is by signing petitions. Such petitions are sent to people in powerful positions that can make a change, especially when they see just how many people stand behind the cause. We can demand change, justice, and stop tragedies by speaking up and doing our part.

There are horrifying things happening around the world every week like extinction, hunting, exploitation, and cruelty. If you are looking for a way to help animals, here are 10 petitions you should sign this week, including banning animal abusers from owning pets, stopping cruel hound hunting, and saving bulls from slaughter.

We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.

1. Save Bulls Used for Bullfighting from Slaughter

Source: Spain’s Torturous Bullfighting Industry Could Finally Come to an End, but 7,000 Bulls Are Still In Deadly Danger

The COVID-19 pandemic struck just as the bullfighting season would have begun in Spain. Animal welfare activists see this as a glimmer of hope for the innocent animals who are tortured and killed every year for human entertainment. Unfortunately, reports are coming from ranchers that have been slaughtering bulls that would have been making them a profit this season, but now serve no purpose in their greedy agendas. One breeder allegedly slaughtered 400 bulls that could have instead gone to sanctuaries or farms throughout the EU. There are at least 7,000 bulls that were destined for 2020’s bullfighting season that need to be rescued before they meet the same fate. Sign this petition to demand that Spain save those bulls and ban this outdated and bloody “sport.”

2. Support the Ecosystems Protection Act to Protect Endangered Big Cats from Being Poisoned

Second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs) are poisons aimed at killing animals like rats and mice. But these poisons also kill the larger predators that eat those smaller animals, such as mountain lions. The poison, which causes the animal to hemorrhage to death is a painful and cruel way to die.  Last year, the California legislature proposed the Ecosystems Protection Act, a bill that would ban SGARs in California except for very specific situations. Unfortunately, it didn’t pass. Sign this petition to tell California lawmakers to pass AB 1788 now and help save California’s iconic big cats.

3. Don’t Let this Man Get Away with Choking his Ex-Girlfriend’s Dog for Revenge

man in Louisiana got into an argument with his ex-girlfriend and decided that he would do something cruel to hurt her. He stole her beloved dog, a sweet Doberman named Rubyjean and was caught on a doorbell camera pulling Rubyjean up by the leash very hard until she starts choking. Rubyjean has since been returned to her loving human after authorities found him. Animal cruelty cases are unfortunately far too often swept under the rug and forgotten. To prevent that, sign this petition demanding that he is charged to the fullest extent of the law.

4. End Animal Testing for Cosmetics Now

Animal testing is horrifying. There is skin and eye irritant testing, the specifics of which involve shaving the skin off an animal and putting harsh chemicals on their skin and in their eyes — without pain relief — to find out if they bother the animal. Another common test is long term force feedings of chemicals or ingredients. They use this one to determine whether sickness will develop over time and also to study birth defects. After testing is done, animals are murdered by having their necks snapped, through suffocation, or having their heads chopped off. Sign this petition to support the Humane Cosmetics Act of 2019!

5. Ban Animal Abusers From Owning Pets

House Bill 1643 is being considered by the Tennessee Legislature. It would “prevent anyone convicted of animal cruelty, abuse or other offenses against animals from owning a companion animal for at least two years after their conviction.” Sign this petition to should your support and ask the Tennessee legislature to pass House Bill 1643 and give animals the protection they deserve!

6. Stop Cruel Hound Hunting, And End The Suffering Of Defenseless Wildlife

Some hunters train hounds to viciously chase animals for miles and rip them limb from limb! This vicious “sport” needs to be made illegal all across the USA. It’s hard to imaging that this is what some people consider a “sport”. They do it for fun. To them, it’s just a hobby, like bird-watching. Congressman Tony Cardenas is a firm believer in animal rights, and that’s this petition is reaching out to him to do something to stop this cruelty once and for all. Sign this petition to ask Congressman Tony Cardenas to introduce legislation that would adopt a law to ban this across all 50 states!

7. Tell the USDA to Share the Truth About Puppy Mills on Their Website

Source: Trump Supports Puppy Mill Abuse!

The USDA used to host info about dog breeders so buyers could check they were buying from responsible breeders and shops. Trump has taken all of that info down. Puppy mills are inhumane operations where dogs are inbred to the point of severe pain and disability, then either killed, abused and bred horribly or sold as though they were healthy. The dogs in these places are treated heinously and there are very few protections for these animals. The information that used to be available about when puppy mills did violate existing code or law was one small way of protecting those animals. Now, it’s gone. Sign this petition to demand the information is put back on the USDA website so that we can continue to shut down puppy mills in the US.

8. Save Elephants from Cruel and Exploitative Guruvayur Temple

The exploitation of elephants in the tourism industry is inhumane and unethical. A place where elephants are suffering is World Heritage Site Guruvayur Temple where the animals are suffering and there’s no end in sight. In the last three years, nine elephants have died there. They went from a total of 54 elephants in 2016 to just 45. To stand up for these suffering elephants, sign this petition demanding an official investigation and immediate upgrades of the elephant’s living conditions.

9. Punish Animal Abusers Who Threw A Cat Off A Three-Story Building

A group of children threw their neighbor’s one-year-old kitten off of a three-story building. The worst part is that after seeing that poor little creature smack into the ground with so much force, and hearing it cry out in pain, all they wanted to do, was torture it again. These children need help. Sign this petition asking the City Council of Cheyenne, Wyoming to force all of the children involved in throwing a cat off of a three-story building to undergo counseling.

10. Trump: Stop Encouraging Your Sons to Murder Defenseless Big Game

In 2011, Donald Trump’s sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, went on a kill safari in Africa and posed shamelessly with their beautiful and defenseless prey – an African leopard, a water buffalo and an elephant. Since then, they’ve only killed more animals. Donald Trump Jr. specifically kills endangered animals including grizzly bears, auctions hunts with an hunting club that trades the parts of endangered animals, and used government resources to kill an endangered animal in Mongolia. Trump has defended his sons’ trophy hunting, waving it off and just saying, “They’re great marksman, great shots, they love it.” Sign this petition to tell Donald Trump to condemn trophy hunting.
