It’s hard to fathom how someone could be so heartless to torture an animal and record themselves doing it. It’s disgusting, but the benefit to cruel people filming their vicious acts is that justice can be found sooner. For instance, two young hunters recently filmed themselves brutally torturing a deer and thanks to the evidence on Snapchat, their information was quickly found and sent to authorities. Similarly, YouTuber Brooke Houts was exposed as an animal abuser when she accidentally uploaded a video of herself abusing her dog. Other young kids thought it would be funny to record themselves throwing a dog off a cliff into the sea.
Well, another young woman, just 18 years old thought uploading a video of herself torturing a dog to Snapchat made her look tough and cool. She was very wrong. There is nothing cool about hurting animals and it doesn’t make you tough to harm a helpless, innocent creature.
Kimberly Ivonae Diaz uploaded a video on Snapchat and Instagram of herself shooting her dog and the caption: “Ten shots and still not dead.” When she started receiving responses she then posted more videos of herself ranting calling people too sensitive and calling herself a “cold-hearted b*tch” who doesn’t care.
Thankfully, there are people who care. Another young woman named Madison Zavala confronted Diaz in messages where Diaz confirmed that she indeed shot the dog 10 times. Zavala then reported the video and confession to authorities. Someone like Diaz is a danger to society. There is overwhelming evidence of the connection between people who harm animals and people who hurt animals. Who knows how many more animals and people she might hurt if she is allowed to get away with this.
The dog in the video did not survive. Diaz was arrested on Christmas Eve after what many say was too long of a wait from the police. To demand that she receive the maximum penalty for a dog abuser, sign this petition!
