Animal-rights activists have made exciting headway towards banning fur. In Italy, the Budget Committee of the Senate recently voted to shut down its last ten mink farms and ban fur farming altogether. And this historic announcement aligned Italy with other countries like Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and the United Kingdom which have already banned fur farming.
Fashion brands have also taken their own stance by going fur-free: Canada Goose, Neiman Marcus, and Valentino are a few such companies. But what about Angora?
Angora wool comes from Angora Rabbits—docile animals with long, soft hair that humans tear out from the roots to make fashion products. There are a number of shocking reasons to avoid angora, many depicted in this undercover footage from PETA investigations, which show rabbits cramped in filthy conditions and workers tying them down to rip out their fur.
Fortunately, some fashion companies have gone Angora-free as well as fur-free: for example Valentino and Armani. But others, like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Prada remain disturbingly silent.
Sign this petition, and demand that all fashion companies stop selling Angora.
