In the words of Paula Abdul, “Opposites Attract.” In life, we find ourselves drawn to those who are completely different from ourselves, and for good reason. Opposites balance one another, give a different perspective to a problem or make plain life just plain interesting. How boring would it be if everyone were exactly alike, right?
There’s no better example of this in life than cats and dogs. One has a reputation for being fun loving and affable, while the other is thought of as more aloof and mysterious. Though there’s exceptions to every rule (we once knew a cat that would chit chat about politics during breakfast. Man, he was opinionated), for the most part these perceptions are pretty spot on.
Which makes for a whole heaping helping of adorable and hilarious when they get together. Sometimes it may seem like they’re barely tolerating one another, but these unlikely duos obviously have plenty of affection for each other too. Remind you in any way of your relationship with your best friend? Or even your sibling? Remember that time that your sister came to pick you up early from that school dance because you were having a terrible time…and then kept inching the car forward just before you could open the door? It’s pretty much like that.
By adopting a cat and a dog, you’re not only helping one of the 70 million homeless animals in the United States find a loving home, you’re also opening the door to an example of hilarity, tolerance and love…even if it is sometimes grudging.
Only true friends will help you to prevent gum disease.
We must stand behind our friends when they go for their dreams…even when their dreams are ridonkulous.
Everyone has that one friend.
Love is patient, love is kind…
Uh, I’m busy that weekend…doing…uhh…
This gives new meaning to the phrase, “You’d better shape up or ship out.”
Buddies: protecting you from the random things that freak you out since the dawn of time.
Want flattery? Ask an acquaintance. Want the harsh truth? Ask your best friend.
“Hank, we’ve been over this, your classic movie binges are making you weird.”
True friendship tolerates each other’s quirks, pirate fantasies and all.
