Although scared at first, Mose seemed to be extremely calm and social around the couple when they got home. The couple already had a cat at home and were anxious to see how they would get along. To their surprise, the two of them became instant friends. They began sniffing each other and their cat even shared some of his toys with his new brother. Mose even showed an interest in the couple’s baby, giving gentle kisses on the baby’s forehead.
Unfortunately, every year in the U.S., in the weeks after Easter, thousands of unwanted baby rabbits and chicks are dropped off at animal shelters or worse — dumped out in the wild to fend for themselves. Most of these animals are purchased on a whim from pet stores or breeders when parents see how cute they are. However, animals are not gifts, and they will not last long having to fend for themselves.
