The world’s tallest male dog has passed away just days after being officially recognized by Guinness World Records. A Great Dane named Kevin, a 3-year-old resident of West Des Moines, Iowa, succumbed to illness following an unexpected surgery, leaving his family heartbroken.
Kevin’s towering stature was remarkable. Measuring 0.97 meters (3 feet 2 inches) from his feet to his withers and an incredible 2.13 meters (7 feet) when standing on his hind legs, he easily dwarfed his human, Roger Wolfe. Despite his imposing size, Kevin was known for his gentle nature. His owner, Tracy Wolfe, described him as the “epitome of a gentle giant,” noting his fear of everyday items like measuring tapes and vacuums.
Tracy and Roger’s 12-year-old son, Alexander, recalled a humorous yet telling moment from Kevin’s first training class, where the dog was so frightened he pooped in the middle of the room. This gentle giant also had a penchant for napping and was often found trying to fit into small beds, seemingly unaware of his massive size.
Kevin’s endearing personality and quirks, such as stealing food from the kitchen counters and being overly friendly with a powerful tail, made him a beloved member of the Wolfe family and a joy to those who met him. Named after the character in the movie “Home Alone,” Kevin grew from a puppy into a giant, eventually outgrowing even the family’s pony.
