Senior Dog Returned After One Year, Now Faces Euthanasia

A senior dog named Star found herself back at a shelter in Texas, and is now desperately seeking a new home to escape an uncertain fate – euthanasia. Adopted at the age of nine, Star, a 10-year-old boxer and treeing Tennessee brindle mix, was returned to Fort Worth Animal Control just a year later due to a distressing health issue – she was “peeing blood.”

The Foster Adopt Rescue (FAR) Network, an organization dedicated to advocating for animals at risk of euthanasia, expressed deep sadness at Star’s return. Describing her as the “sweetest girl,” they revealed that the volunteer who first met Star was overjoyed at her adoption and devastated when she learned of her subsequent return.

Star hasnt had an easy life. To be surrendered back to the shelter at 10 is just unfair. She deserves better. 💔#texas #abandoned #fyp #viral #help #viralvideo #euthanasia #dogsareperfect #senior #unfair #fortworthtexas #dallastexas #euthlist #fortworth #ftworthtexas #dogsoftiktok

Despite her age, Star continues to exhibit a gentle and loving nature. Known for her low energy, compatibility with children, and easy-going demeanor, Star’s potential as a wonderful companion remains untarnished. DeeAnn Skinner, a shelter volunteer, shared insights into Star’s personality on Facebook, portraying her as a dog content with sitting next to her human, enjoying short walks, or simply basking in the sun.

Skinner, who was shattered to find Star back at the shelter, recounted the initial fear the dog exhibited during their reunion. Star had been hiding behind Skinner, but with medical attention and care, she is showing signs of improvement. Antibiotics were administered for a condition that caused blood in her urine, and the latest update indicates a positive change in her health.

However, Star’s future hangs precariously as she faces a “Code Red” status, signifying that her time in the shelter is running out. Urgent efforts are needed to secure a new, loving home for Star, ensuring that this resilient senior dog can enjoy her remaining years in comfort and happiness.
