Pit Bull Waited 500 Days for Home, Was Returned in One Week

Dog

Drogo is an American Pit Bull who waited for 500 days at the Austin Animal Center shelter before being adopted. The handsome pup was highlighted after he failed to garner attention during a shelter event. Despite being overlooked for so long, Drogo is a sweet dog who is house-trained, loves going for walks, and is described in his profile as a “charmer”. Yet, the pup waited in the shelter for almost two years before being adopted.

We are all crushed that Drogo was returned to the shelter so quickly. He was one of the longest stay dogs at the shelter and now he’s back again. He’s devastated. It’s not fair. #austinanimalcenter #austinanimalshelter #longstay #adoptme #pitbulllove #pitbullsoftiktok #returned #shelterdog

When Drogo was finally adopted, shelter staff were overjoyed to see him finally find a home. However, heartbreakingly, Drogo was returned to the shelter within a week by his adoptive family. It often takes dogs days or even weeks to adjust to a new home. In a video shared by Austin Animal Center’s TikTok, @goodboygonehome, the shelter shares footage of the adorable Pit Bull receiving scratches while wagging his tail.

Drogo’s winning personality is on display in the video, where the shelter pleads with someone to give this pup a loving, truly forever home. The shelter shares that Drogo is the ultimate cuddly companion who loves hanging out on the couch. However, he will most likely need to be the only pet in the home. Austin Animal Center is looking for someone to adopt or foster Drogo so he can get out of the stressful shelter environment and truly shine.
