In Texas, an animal shelter is under investigation after a three-month-old cattle dog puppy named Casey suffered a severe injury. Casey arrived at the shelter on July 7 with a badly wounded leg but was only given basic pain relief. Tragically, without proper care, he chewed off his leg over three days.
The S.N.A.R.R. Animal Rescue Northeast was alerted and found Casey in critical condition. He was immediately rushed for surgery to amputate the remaining part of his leg and received an emergency blood transfusion, which saved his life.
Conroe Mayor Duke Coon has initiated an investigation into the shelter’s operations, highlighting the need for better care even amidst Hurricane Beryl’s disruption. The hurricane caused significant damage elsewhere, but its winds still affected Texas.
In a heartfelt plea on Facebook, S.N.A.R.R. asked for donations to aid Casey’s recovery. Ten donors have contributed $316 so far. Updates show Casey is now thriving, with his foster family praising his spirit and adaptability. The rescue group expressed gratitude for the community’s Support and announced that Casey would soon be available for adoption.
