We Dare You to Resist Eating This Healthier Egg-Free Cookie Dough in One Sitting

Growing up, most of us knew better than to eat uncooked cookie dough. That being said, we didn’t always listen, in spite of warnings from our parents … or the USDA … that consuming raw eggs can be dangerous because hey, cookie dough is delicious. And despite all the talk of how raw batter could make us sick, we were always sure to catch our parents licking the spoon once the cookies were in the oven. Unfortunately, our parents weren’t lying to us just so they could be the ones to lick the bowl; the USDA warns that Salmonella bacteria (yech) might be present in uncooked eggs. And more recently, the FDA recommended against eating uncooked flour due to an E.coli outbreak that was traced back to milled, uncooked flour — and apparently, this has happened more than once … so it’s better to fight the very strong temptation to eat raw cookie dough than to run the risk of food-related illness.

Luckily, this doesn’t mean that you have to give up on your dreams of eating raw cookie dough. Not only is it easy to make cookies without eggs, it’s easy to make egg-free, dairy free cookie dough that you can literally eat by the spoonful. What’s the secret? Chickpeas — that’s right, chickpeas.

Chickpeas + almond butter + coconut sugar + chocolate chips = cookie dough that’s safe to eat raw!

There’s no long, complicated process that goes into making this Chickpea Cookie Dough. Literally, all you need to do is blend everything in your food processor, except for the chocolate chips, until it looks just like raw cookie dough. Don’t worry, it doesn’t taste like beans. We know from experience that nobody would ever believe that this recipe contains no eggs, no dairy, no refined sugar — only the good stuff. You can even bake chickpea cookie dough, like in these Chickpea Chocolate Chip Bars, which add baking soda and baking powder into the mix for cookie bars that are crispy on the bottom, but soft and gooey on the inside.

And get this — this Chickpea Cookie Dough isn’t the only way to make vegan cookie dough you can eat by the spoonful. We highly recommend checking out the Food Monster App, an app available for both iPhone and Android. The Food Monster App features over 8,000 vegan recipes — vegan cookie dough included — and over 10 new recipes are added daily!
