Sticky Orange Sesame Tofu [Vegan]

This flavorful finger-licking good orange sesame recipe is made in just 30 minutes with easy ingredients. The perfect crowd-pleasing tofu recipe. It is easy enough to make on busy weeknights and rich in flavor.

Ingredients You Need for Sticky Orange Sesame Tofu [Vegan]

For the Tofu:

  • 1 block firm tofu cubed
  • 1 teaspoon tapioca flour (or arrowroot)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Orange Sesame Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup soy sauce gluten-free (or coconut aminos)
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 3 tablespoon orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon sesame seeds toasted

How to Prepare Sticky Orange Sesame Tofu [Vegan]

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F degrees. Then take your firm tofu out of the package and wrap it in a towel for 5 minutes.
  2. Then cut the tofu into cubes and add to a large mixing bowl. Gently toss with the tapioca flour, salt, and garlic powder and bake for 20 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, in a medium mixing bowl add in all the sauce ingredients. Mix and pour onto a saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 5-10 minutes. The sauce will start to thicken and reduce.
  4. Turn heat off so it does not overcook.
  5. When the tofu is finished baking, add to the saucepan and gently mix to coat. Sprinkle the to salted sesame seeds on top and serve with rice and some steamed veggies.

Notes

To toast the sesame seeds just place on a baking pan and bake for 5-8 minutes at 350. Make sure to move them around to make sure they don’t burn.
