This rich, creamy red wine buttercream adds a grown-up depth-of-flavor to any dessert. It has a gorgeous, deep raspberry color that makes it perfect on chocolate cake, brownies, cookies, or any dessert you happen to make on a whim. It's incredibly easy to make, too! Try adding spices like cinnamon and nutmeg to make it even more special.
Red Wine Buttercream [Vegan]
- 1 1/2 cups red wine
- 2 tablespoons agave nectar
- 4 tablespoons room temperature vegan butter
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- In a small saucepan, simmer red wine and agave nectar. You want to reduce this mixture until you are left with about 1/4 cup (about 20 minutes). It will not seem like it is a syrup, but once it cools, it will be. Once the wine is reduced, set aside and allow to cool completely
- Beat butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar in 1/4 cup additions. Finally, beat in the wine syrup. Beat until fully combined.
