As if we didn’t love Trader Joe’s enough, we just got some good news from our beloved grocer. They recently added a new, savory frozen, plant-based Jackfruit Yellow Curry dish to their repertoire. Who wouldn’t love a ready-to-eat jackfruit meal that can go from frozen to feast in just a matter of minutes? We’re excited to try it!
The new meal joins a number of other Trader Joe’s frozen food aisle favorites such as Vegan Tikka Masala, Penne Arrabbiata, and Panang Curry, as well as game-changing new additions such as the Hi Protein Veggie Burger made from pea protein. It comes with Jasmine rice and contains eggplant, red bell pepper, coconut milk, yellow curry, and spices.

It has a great meaty texture and a mild enough flavor that can absorb sauces and spices very well. These Jackfruit ‘Crab’ Cakes With Tartar Sauce by Lindsay Clarke are light, elegant, and gluten-free. The shredded jackfruit nicely replicates the texture of crab, while spices round out the crab cake flavor you know and love. Plus, they’re topped with a delicious plant-based tartar sauce.

Preeti Tamilarasan’s Baby Jackfruit Curry is a plant-based take on this Indian classic. The jackfruit absorbs the ginger, garlic, garam masala, turmeric, and other spices and has a great meaty flavor. This rich, traditional curry is one you’ll want to make for yourself at home.

Thai Jackfruit curry is TERRIFIC.
As a vegetarian whose favorite cuisine is thai – I frequent Thai restaurants all over the country. Since many (most?) restaurants use fish oil and shrimp paste, even when the restaurant claims the entree is vegetarian, one gets skeptical.
This frozen dinner is better than most freshly prepared curries served in restaurants. Besides that, Jackfruit curry isn\’t something you\’d normally find in restaurants.
Way to go Trader Joe\’s!
