Nestlé Announces New Vegan KitKat

On Monday, February 15, 2021, Nestlé announced its new vegan KitKat called KitKat V! The candy bar, which is certified vegan and made from 100% sustainable cocoa, will be tested out later this year.

Initially, the KitKat V will be available on the KitKat Chocolatory website as well as at selected retailers around the world. The US will not be included since KitKats in the US are manufactured by Hershey’s under a license from Nestlé. Other than the exclusion of the US and the inclusion of England, the company has yet to specify the countries where the new KitKat will be tested.

The Head of Confectionery at Nestlé, Alexander von Maillot, said, “One of the most common requests we see on social media is for a vegan KitKat, so we’re delighted to be able to make that wish come true.” He continued, “There is a quiet food revolution underway that is changing how people eat. We want to be at the forefront of that, championing the discovery of plant-based food and beverages.”

In 2020, Nestlé launched other vegan products, including plant-based tuna and vegan condensed milk.

The announcement of the KitKatV follows the introduction of Vegan Topic and Bounty Bars from another candy producer, Mars.

  1. Considering that Nestle is responsible for stealing water in the millions of gallons and then bottling it in plastic, it is imperative that we hold Nestle accountable for helping the earth in any way it can!
