Plant-based food is high in demand right now. Consumers want more plant-based food options than ever before. That’s why companies that listen to consumer needs and wants are adding plant-based options. Hormel, famous for making spam, ham, turkey, and other meat-based products, recently launched a plant-based line of foods called Happy Little Plants. Kellogg’s MorningStar Farms which recently made the decision to go completely vegan also just launched a plant-based line called Incogmeato. Popular supermarket chain Kroger is now launching Simple Truth Plant Based, a new line of plant-based foods!

Simple Truth is Kroger’s natural and organic brand, and now they’re adding to it with an entirely plant-based variety of products. Gil Phipps, Kroger’s vice president of Our Brands says, “As more of our customers embrace a flexitarian lifestyle, choosing to prioritize healthier food choices and reduce their environmental footprint, we are excited to meet their needs. We are introducing our Simple Truth Plant Based collection to offer even more fresh, remarkably delicious, animal-free food to provide shoppers with a greater selection of choices that are more accessible and affordable.”

The line includes the following products: Meatless Burger Patties, Meatless Grinds, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Alfredo Pasta Sauce, Bolognese Pasta Sauce, Deli Slices (Black Forest Ham and Salt & Pepper Turkey), Sausage (Kielbasa and Chorizo), Cream Cheese, Sour Cream, French Onion Dip, and Queso. Kroger will be introducing new products every month starting this fall into 2020.

This Cashew Sour Cream by Heidi Turunen is almost too good to be true. Made with cashews, water, lemon, apple cider vinegar, and a handful of spices, you can likely make this dip right now out of items already in your pantry. Enjoy this in a burrito, as a dip for chips, or add some more water and use it as a dressing.
