LIKE OGP ON FACEBOOK :

Making meaty, protein-rich sausages at home is way simpler than you’d think! Luckily for you, we’ve looked through our Food Monster App for the best sausage tips you could ask for. Between adding extra protein, flavor, etc. we have you covered!

1. Create a Meaty Spice Mix

Homemade Spicy Italian Sausage / One Green Planet

Creating a delicious and authentic tasting vegan sausage can be easy with the right spice mix. Rhea Parsons showed us how to make an amazing Italian spice mix for her Homemade Spicy Italian Sausage recipe. It contains garlic, oregano, and so much more for an amazing savory taste!

This Black-Eyed Pea and Leek Sausages recipe by Travis Piper uses a similar mix but includes chipotle powder for an extra kick!

For an extra creative take, try this Homemade Caribbean Spice Blend by Alenoosh Matakupan for a slightly sweet, slightly savory, and very spicy mix to add to your vegan sausage.

2. Pick a Protein Basevegan walnut breakfast sausage

You can use anything from nuts to beans to lentils to chickpeas for your base! These Red Bean Sausages by Travis Piper utilizes super meaty kidney beans for added protein, texture, and meatiness.

Philipp Ertl used mushrooms to create a meaty and lower-calorie Mushroom and Vegetable Protein Sausages recipe! He also adds textured vegetable protein for added texture and protein.

If you’re soy or gluten-free or maybe beans just aren’t your jam, you could try using walnuts in your sausage. Dawn Hutchins explains how do do this with her Christmas Walnut Breakfast Sausage recipe. It’s as simple as blending it all together and baking!

3. Mix it up with International Flavor

Gochujang Kimchi Sausages / One Green Planet

We previously showed you how to make international meatballs with our Around the World With 8 International Meatball Recipes! You could use any of these recipes by simply forming the mixes into sausage shapes instead of meatballs.

In this Longganisa: Filipino Breakfast Sausages recipe, RG Enriquez uses peanut butter, soy sauce, and chili to make a Philippines-inspired sausage!

Bold Flavored Vegan Cooking showed us how to create an umami-flavored sausage with this Gochujang Kimchi Sausages recipe! Vinegar, tamari, kimchi, and nutritional yeast combine to create a delicious and healthy sausage.
