Feeding America established a COVID-19 response fund to help food banks across the country deal with the impact of coronavirus. Feeding America is the country’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. The spread of coronavirus has led to school closures, job disruption and lack of resources will place a higher burden on food banks, including those run by Feeding America.
$2.65 million has been allocated to help food banks around the country provide resources to communities around the country. With the funding, food banks across the country will help stock emergency food supplies. Feeding America is also launching a nationwide fundraising effort to widen Support.
According to a statement from Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, “Our first priority is the millions of individuals, families and seniors who rely on food banks for help. Our member food banks are always there to help throughout the year and in times of disaster. This fund will advance their ability to respond efficiently and effectively in their communities so that food is not added to the list of worries for families during this pandemic. We cannot do it alone.”

We all play a part in taking care to reduce the spread of the disease. The CDC recommends washing your hands thoroughly often, covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze, staying inside if you’re not feeling well, and avoiding close contact with others.
