Plant-based options are becoming ubiquitous. It’s what consumers are demanding for the animals, their health, and the sake of the planet. It seems that every week there are new options at restaurants and fast food chains where one would not expect plant-based offerings. Burger King has a meatless whopper on their menu, KFC tested plant-based chicken, Subway added vegan meatballs to the menu, and even McDonald’s is finally testing a meatless burger. Dunkin’, formerly known as Dunkin’ Donuts, recently decided to test a plant-based breakfast sausage by Beyond Meat and it’s proven so successful that they’ll be expanding it nationwide!
The test was quite limited for the vegan sausage patty — it was only offered in Manhattan. But according to CNBC, it was the second highest selling item in Manhattan for Dunkin’ during its test run. It was also ordered during all times of day, not just during breakfast! Dunkin’ initially planned to expand the sausage to all their menus across the country in January, but due to its success they’ll be moving it up!
Starting November 6th, the plant-based Beyond Meat sausage will be available in stores nationwide. The sausage comes in a breakfast sandwich that is not vegan; it includes egg and cheese. However, customers can order the sausage in a bagel or english muffin for a vegan fix!

3. Breakfast Sausage Patties

The base of these Breakfast Sausage Patties by Rhea Parsons are black-eyed peas and mushrooms, but the spice mix is a mix of sweet and spicy. If you like the taste of maple in your sausage, you can add maple syrup but you will probably need to add more flour to compensate for the extra moisture. Use a cast iron pan to make sure the patties got a nice crispy exterior.
