Popular fast food chains and restaurants are constantly adding plant-based offerings making life so much easier for those looking to eat meatless and avoid animal products. From Dunkin’ to Subway, Carl’s Jr., Tim Horton’s, and Burger King, everyone’s getting in on the plant-based options! Consumer demands for plant-based foods have certainly increased over the last few years, and it’s not just vegans and vegetarians who want options. Some people just want to reduce their meat and dairy intake, for ethical, environmental, and/or health reasons. Having more options makes it easier for everyone to avoid animal products.
Some restaurants still have some catching up to do, but one classic American diner chain is refusing to fall behind with their latest partnership. Denny’s, known for their breakfast foods and burgers, partnered with Beyond Meat to offer the plant-based Beyond Burger on their menu.
Starting yesterday, on October 28th, the Beyond Burger officially hit menus in Los Angeles locations. The Los Angeles locations will even be treating guests to free Beyond Burgers with the purchase of any drinks between 4 and 7 pm on Halloween. For everyone else in the country, you don’t have to wait too long to try it. The burger rolls out on Denny’s menu nationwide in 2020.
John Dillon, chief brand officer for Denny’s says, “As a company we strive to evolve with the tastes and demands of our customers and we knew finding a plant-based option that met our incredibly high-quality standards and taste expectations was critical in staying at the top of our game.” Beyond Meat’s VP of North America Sales Foodservice, Tim Smith is also excited about this partnership making the plant-based burger patty accessible to more people.
The “Denny’s Beyond Burger features a 100% plant-based Beyond Burger patty topped with freshly sliced tomatoes and onions, crisp lettuce, pickles, American cheese and All-American sauce on a multigrain bun.” It’s not clear yet if it can be ordered without cheese or any other ingredients to make it vegan. The Beyond Meat patty can also be substituted in other burgers for just $2.
If you’re like us, then you’re happy that more people will have access to meatless options but still like getting creative in the kitchen. Check out these recipes from the Food Monster App!
Source: Quinoa and White Bean Burger
These Quinoa and White Bean Burger by Julie West are loaded with protein and fiber as well as other beneficial nutrients, and they are very filling. As far as veggie burgers go this is fairly easy. FYI, you can make this recipe even simpler by using a pre-made flour instead of processing oats. The white bean quinoa burger patties came out fantastic and held up great without falling apart, and they were not dry at all, nor were they mushy. The texture, taste, and visual appeal all hit the mark.
Source: Easy Black Bean Burger With Tahini Slaw
This Easy Black Bean Burger With Tahini Slaw by Caroline Doucet is a simple veggie burger that’s nutritious, yet delicious! The black bean patty is high in protein thanks to the beans, nuts, and seeds. It’s also filled with fiber due to the beans, vegetables, whole wheat bread, and again, the nuts and seeds. It’s flavored with smoked paprika, garlic and onions to give you a BBQ flavored burger, without any BBQ sauce. Make a few batches and keep them in the freezer for easy weeknight dinners!

Crispy and slightly golden on the outside, chewy on the inside with the perfect blend of spiciness, smokiness, and sweetness, these Sriracha Black Bean Burgers by Lucie Javorska are love at first bite. While some healthy dishes may not be considered filling enough, this burger provides long-lasting, delicious energy! Top them with a generous splash of chili sauce for an extra spicy kick or a dollop of vegan sour cream if you’d like to tune the heat down a bit instead.
