Petition: Protect Dogs and Cats From Invasive Experiments Across Canada

Ontario just made history by banning invasive medical experiments on dogs and cats, including the breeding of companion animals for research purposes. This landmark legislation came after whistleblowers exposed a secretive hospital lab where researchers allegedly induced heart attacks in dogs for up to three hours before killing them. Canadians were outraged, and rightfully so. You can join nearly 29,000 supporters by signing the petition now to demand the rest of Canada follow Ontario’s lead.

Globally, around 190 million animals suffer inside labs yearly, and Canada alone accounted for roughly 3.7 million in 2024. Beyond the cruelty, 90% of drugs passing animal trials still fail in humans, making these experiments both brutal and largely ineffective. Humane, more accurate alternatives exist but remain underfunded. Ontario’s law also requires labs to rehome animals already in their possession rather than discard them. All of Canada must adopt these protections now, so please consider signing the petition today.
