New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art was once again the epicenter of glamour as the 2024 Met Gala unfolded with its signature blend of haute couture and cuisine. This year, under the theme “Sleeping Beauty: Reawakening Fashion,” attendees were treated not only to stunning fashion statements but also to an amazing culinary experience.
Caterer Olivier Cheng took the reins, crafting a menu that echoed the enchantment of a classic children’s storybook. While the dinner menu boasted an array of omnivorous dishes, it was the plant-based offerings that stole the spotlight at the afterparty, hosted at Casa Cipriani. Here, guests indulged in vegan creations from Neat, featuring cheeseburgers with Stockeld Dreamery’s Cultured Cheddar, alongside TiNDLE Chick’n burgers and fingers.
The afterparty, stretching into the early hours of the morning, welcomed high-profile celebrities from the music industry. Notable attendees included Doja Cat, Sam Smith, Cardi B, and Usher, alongside vegan advocate and Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, and New York Mayor Eric Adams, championing the plant-based cause.
Sorosh Tavakoli, founder and CEO of Stockeld Dreamery, reflected on the experience, emphasizing the importance of challenging perceptions surrounding vegan cuisine. Serving their cheeseburgers to icons like Leo DiCaprio and Serena Williams was not just a triumph but a step towards reshaping attitudes towards plant-based fare. The pre-show festivities at The Mark Hotel also provided vegan options with Impossible sliders and passionfruit BBQ Impossible chicken nuggets, setting the stage for a night of culinary indulgence.
