Globally Local is Canada’s first vegan fast food restaurant and the world’s first 24-hour vegan drive-thru. Started in London, Ontario, the eatery serves up crowd-pleasing plant-based alternatives to typical fast food grub like burgers, chicken tenders, grilled cheese, breakfast sandwiches, and even soft-serve ice cream (their coconut milk-based version is house-made!) The restaurant has been so successful that they are now planning on adding 10 new locations under a franchise model!
Founder of Globally Local, James McInnes, told VegNews, “We have greatly simplified the restaurant operation to the point where we feel that even those with little or no restaurant experience can easily operate a Globally Local franchise … We want to be a global contender in the fast-food world and we believe that by finding strong franchise partners, we can make this dream a reality.”
McInnes plans to franchise up to 10 Globally Local locations within the next 12 months. He will begin in the Ontario area before expanding on development in other regions across North America. We cannot wait to see where they end up expanding to!
We are so thrilled to see plant-based restaurants being met with widespread public approval. With leaders in the plant-based food space like Globally Local, going vegan has never been easier. By providing alternatives to typical fast food restaurants, which are one of the biggest contributors to industrialized animal agriculture, Globally Local shows that convenience and consciousness can go hand in hand.
