Stray Dog Who Still Wore a Collar From the People Abandoned Him Finally Gets Help!

In South Texas, an abandoned dog was living on the streets for months. Every night he returned to the same backyard, sleeping on the hard pavement night after night. “No one’s dog” wore a collar from his past, so he must have belonged to a family at one time, but for whatever reason, he was never reunited with them.
After months and scavenging for food, the dog’s health started to decline. The neglect and malnutrition caused his immune system to become taxed and he couldn’t fight the infections inflicting his raw skin. The poor dog would scratch his open wounds, his skin hard from mange.
Thankfully, local rescue volunteers sent out an urgent plea on social media in need of help, and Rescue Dogs Rock NYC stepped in without question.
Now named Canelo, he is finally getting the help he so desperately needed.
Canelo needs emergency medical treatment and rehabilitation. It’s $1,000 to walk into any emergency medical facility so Rescue Dogs Rock NYC desperately needs funds to save this sweet soul.
Thankfully, Canelo already has a foster home confirmed for when he leaves the hospital. There he will be able to relax and become “someone’s dog” again.
There are about 70 million stray animals living in the U.S, totaling out to about five homeless animals for every homeless person in the U.S, reports DoSomething.org. Canelo is one of the lucky homeless animals saved from the streets.
