More than 120 horses and dogs, rescued from alleged neglect by their owner, are now seeking new homes in Riverside County. Following an investigation into potential animal cruelty, approximately 80 horses and 40 dogs were confiscated late last March, finding refuge at the county’s San Jacinto shelter.

The dogs available for adoption span various ages, from litters of puppies to senior dogs in need of loving homes. Vogel highlighted the diversity, mentioning, “We have a batch of eight or nine-week-old puppies and another litter of 14-to-16-week-old puppies available for adoption as well.”

Vogel shed light on the conditions the animals endured, stating, “The horses can definitely use some additional food… When we arrived, it looked like there were empty bags of dog food located inside of a vehicle. We obviously came with lots of food to coax them into our trucks for transport, but they can all definitely use some more food and love.”

While the owner remains under investigation for suspected animal cruelty, no arrests have been made thus far. Complaints had been lodged against the individual over the past 18 months, prompting intervention by Riverside County Animal Services.
