In 2021, Niall Harbison founded Happy Doggo after witnessing the plight of sick, stray dogs in Thailand. Since then, the charity has saved numerous vulnerable animals. An example of their work recently captivated TikTok users around the world.
On July 27, Happy Doggo shared a video on TikTok (@happydoggoniall) featuring a tiny puppy suffering from a severe skin condition. Initially, the pup appeared frightened and frail, struggling to breathe while curled up on a blanket. The footage then shifted to show the same dog, now named Rodney, vibrant and healthy. Rodney was seen running joyfully through green fields, enjoying walks with his new human, and even sporting a stylish jacket. The accompanying caption, “To be loved… is to be changed,” underscored the profound impact of care and compassion.
The heartwarming transformation has garnered over 25 million views and more than 6.2 million likes, along with 45,000 comments. This story highlights not only the individual success of Happy Doggo’s efforts but also the broader issue in Thailand, where local charity Soi Dog Foundation reports a staggering 70,000 street dogs and cats with insufficient spay and neuter programs to control the population.
