The majority of pigs, born on factory farms lead miserable, short lives. Moments after birth, they’re separated from their mothers and soon after locked into tiny, filthy pens, where they will live out their days in constant stress and fear. These pigs never get to experience the exhilaration of a wallow in the grass, or feel the warmth of the sun on their skin. This is barely any sort of life at all for these smart and highly emotional animals.
Luckily, places like Santuario Compasion Animal exist to provide an alternative life for these animals. Zacarias, the little piggy featured in this video, was rescued from a meat farm by these kind people, and now the days of him being considered “food” are over. With this sad life in his past, this pig is learning what it means to be a pig – and with that comes the great joy of belly rubs!
