A peaceful neighborhood cat in San Jose is recovering after surviving an alleged act of extreme violence. Huerro, a friendly and well known local cat, was found injured with a six inch crossbow bolt lodged through the base of his tail. A neighbor rushed him to an emergency veterinary hospital, where surgery saved his life. This was not an accident. It was a deliberate act that could have ended far worse.
Soon after Huerro was found, a matching crossbow bolt was discovered nearby. That discovery raises urgent concerns that someone may be intentionally targeting animals in this area. Many cats and kittens live nearby, and residents now fear another attack could happen at any time. Violence against animals is often a warning sign of broader harm, and ignoring it puts both animals and people at risk.
Huerro survived because of quick action and compassion. Others may not be so lucky. Sign the petition now. Sign the petition now to demand accountability and stop this cruelty.
