Passersby in Hong Kong’s Shek Kip Mei area recently found a tiny black kitten barely alive in a back alley, allegedly slashed with a knife and left to die. The kitten suffered deep wounds across its neck and back measuring five to six inches, with even more severe cuts to its thighs. There was no blood at the scene, suggesting the attack happened elsewhere and the kitten was deliberately abandoned to suffer.
An animal rescue rushed the kitten to emergency veterinary care. Vets confirmed the injuries were intentional and not accidental. This level of violence against a defenseless animal is alarming and unacceptable. Research consistently links extreme animal abuse to a higher risk of violence toward people, making this a public safety issue as well.
