Each year, millions tune in to celebrate Fat Bear Week — the joyful, wildly popular event where the public votes for the chunkiest bear in Alaska’s Katmai National Park. What started in 2014 has become a global sensation, with over one million votes from 100 countries by 2024. It’s fun, it’s wholesome, and it raises real awareness about bear Conservation and ecosystem health.
So why aren’t more national parks joining in? Denali and Glacier National Parks are home to hundreds — even thousands — of bears. Creating their own Fat Bear Week competitions would be an easy, family-friendly way to celebrate wildlife while educating the public about vital Conservation efforts.
Let’s show our Support for these incredible creatures and their fragile ecosystems. Sign the petition now to urge Denali and Glacier to launch their own Fat Bear Weeks!
