Animal abusers are dangerous, unstable individuals who pose a threat to society. And although more than substantial evidence proves that animal abuse is linked to other violent crimes (an animal abuser is five times more likely to be violent toward another human), the law has yet to catch up with them, and many animal abusers get away with a slap on the wrist, if they are even caught and prosecuted. Animal abuse is a pressing issue that must be addressed and made a priority in the judicial system, and change must start now.
A petition on Care2 retells the story of Leo, a four-year-old mixed breed dog who was found dead crammed in a suitcase in a Leeds cemetery. His body was completely emaciated with virtually every single bone jutting out from under his skin. Investigators stated there was no doubt that the poor dog had endured unimaginable long-term starvation and suffering before this.
The petition is calling on authorities to prosecute Leo’s alleged owner to the full extent of the law. Please take a moment to sign the petition and demand justice for Leo!
Sadly, Leo’s story is not unique. Animals are regularly starved, beaten, and neglected in all regions of the world, and the abusers often get away with their crimes without any consequences. If you ever witness or suspect animal abuse, never hesitate to contact authorities to address the issue. You could be saving an innocent life.
And please remember to share this with your network to increase support for this very important cause!
