We’ve all heard stories about animals being rescued from dangerous roads and highways. Usually, these animals are abandoned dogs or other pets who accidentally wander too far from home, but sometimes wild animals are left to suffer from injuries on busy streets.
This was the case for a goose who happened to find himself in the middle of the U.K.’s busiest motorway. The bones in one of his wings were completely shattered, making it impossible for the bird to fly away from danger. Upon his rescue by Wildlife Aid, it was discovered that the fracture was so bad that any surgical care would probably be useless. The bird’s rescuers put a bandage on the wing in the hopes that a “callus would form to mend the wing.”
After a few weeks, the wing healed to the point where the goose no longer needed to depend on the care of humans. Released to a safe lake, he started interacting with other birds and eventually began to fly again! A recovery that rescuers once doubted would happen was proven to be entirely possible as this little bird reached for the skies and overcame his painful injuries.
