Every living creature shares the same desire to live a life free from harm and suffering, but sadly, humans don’t always make this possible for others. We have constructed a society where we value animals based on their ability to serve our needs, completely disregarding their own inherent worth. In the case of farm animals, this means stripping animals of their unique personalities and treating them like non-feeling, numbered commodities that exist to become our food.
However, when you remove these trappings and see farm animals as individuals, you’ll see creatures just as deserving as love and respect as any other. Cows, for example, are incredibly intelligent animals that share deep bonds with their babies and friends. Like people, cows get stressed out when they’re separated from the ones they love.
While there are many people who are working to change perceptions of farm animals and put an end to the cruel practices we subject them to on factory farms, this change is a little slow-going. Rather than waiting for their freedom, the cows in this video have decided to take matters into their own hands and run for it! We can’t help but chuckle at the sight of the befuddled farmer trying to chase after the herd of determined cows. After seeing this, there’s no denying the fact that we all share the same will to live free on our own terms.
